Adding auxiliary input jack to existing crappy old stereo
Just wondering if there is a relatively painless and cheap way to add
an auxiliary input jack to an existing car stereo, short of installing a new head unit. Thanks for any advice. I suspect it would not be worth the trouble. |

What kind of stereo? Some you can get adaptors and such that will plug right
in. Some have an AUX input you just need the hook-up for, others trick the unit into thinking there's a cd changer there... -- Is sex dirty? Check your Head Uni for the socket, and if you have one, 'Click here (http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_catal...blitz_aux.html) an select your vehicle - SteveLuma ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted via RealCarAudio.com - The checkmate of the caraudio community http://www.RealCarAudio.co SteveLuman's Profile: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/m...nfo&userid=299 View this thread: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/s...?threadid=4185 |

If it's a 1998+ Volkswagen or Audi head unit, you can use the CD changer input using a VWCDPIC to trick the head unit. I have schematics and firmware available in the developer's area of my website. http://www.k9spud.com/vwcdpic/ -- VW Audio Adapters and PICmicro Programmers Ed Schlunder http://www.k9spud.com/ |

My apologies for not including more information. The car in question
is a 1988 vw golf 4-door, one of the last built in a Detroit factory. I found a source for fm transmitters with better wattage than the Itrip or other weak units, so will probably go with that kludgey solution. Thanks for your advice.
