That's comic -- even ironic -- as the Marine Corps is believed to have the
highest percentage of homosexual and bisexual members.

Even after the Village People did that great recruiting program for the Navy?

That's not quite correct. Some idiot in the Navy wanted to have the VP use
"In the Navy" as a recruiting tool -- until somebody told him who the VP
were.

Do you think it was a better gay campaign than Tom Cruise's
(that name is so full of irony) in "Top Gun"?

Especially ironic when you consider that a lot of people think Cruise is
gay. He's a sufficiently unaccomplished actor that it's plausible.

Other than Montgomery Clift, Jack Larson, * and (perhaps) Tyrone Power,
there have been no really good gay American motion-picture actors.

* That's not a joke. Larson is a very good actor.

Forgive me. I forgot David Hyde Pierce, who is a superb comic actor.

Rock Hudson was either gay or bisexual.

But he wasn't a particularly good actor. Which was my point.

I think he got dumped into too many lousy roles, but I did think he did
a fine job with Ice Station Zebra. Another great film with a Michel Legrand
soundtrack too.

Yes, but he more than made down for it with "Seconds", which he nearly
destroys. It's a terrible performance. (Nevertheless, I strongly recommend
it. It has a shocking twist ending.)

I didn't. He did light comedy well, but you couldn't take him seriously as a
serious actor. See my other post.
