I just got an eq amplifier on ebay and hooked it up to my 1994 ford
taurus stock stereo. When the eq is off the stereo works as it did
before but when I turn on the eq. it lights up but I lose all sound.

what i did,

1)connected (L&R) rear outputs from stereo to eq (L&R) inputs.
2)connected all four speakers to their respective outputs on the eq.
connected eq. ground and power.

I know some fords have amps stock but my 94 GL doesn't seem to have
the premium stereo from what i've researched on the web (judgeing by
stereo harness design) so I don't think that's the problem.

Is this thing blown?
