Default The Real Poop (for Harold)

OK, Harold, in response to your desperate cries for something to
"critique", I took inventory of my stuff. I know the most important thing
for you is how much it cost, so I've tabulated the list prices and the
amounts I paid for each item.

I won't delve into how satisfied I am with the performance for a couple of
reasons. Mostly there's your propensity for getting turned inside-out with
envy and claiming people don't own this or don't own that. Only you -- and
maybe Krooger -- are unaware of how ridiculous that makes you look. The
other reason is that you don't comprehend the various gradations of quality
that Normals use in their opinions. Your grading scale is pretty much a
reflection of your college transcript -- Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.
(Which is to say, Pass or Fail.)

Anyway, here's the list.

Surround System
Preamp/Processor List: $6000 Paid: $1200
DVD Player List: $300 Paid: $125
Power Amp List: $1200 Paid: $250
Speakers (5) List: $5400 Paid: $1200
Subwoofer List: $1400 Paid: $600

Stereo System
Preamp List: $1500 Paid: $800
CD Player List $400 Paid $325
Power Amp List $800 Paid $500
Speakers (2) List $2500 Paid $1000

Assorted cables, including name brands List $500 Paid $100

There's your fix. Enjoy! ;-)

Apparently the following is true: Ultimate value of audio gear, according to
Middius - the percentage discount from list price.

"Tom" is lonely, confused, and seeking attention. Next thing you know,
he'll start "pretending to be" someone else and forging emails again.

Who was it that said this?:

"If they are knocking 75% off, it's because it was such a good product,
right?"

It could have been me, but as usual its out of context. In any case its

In the past, anything less than make and model was worthy of derision from
the Middius sector.

Just another example of his consummate hypocricy.

This is mostly Satisfactory according to Ferstler's Rules of Frugality. The
only exception are the CD players and the line conditioner. Since there is
no functional difference between any competent CD players, clearly you
wasted a great deal of money on them. Don't you know you can get a
perfectly serviceable CD player for $199 that will last a good 3 years and
play all your CDs flawlessly?

Line conditioners are pure "snake oil". Harold and Arnii have told us this
many times. All of the lesser 'borgs say it too. The electricity is filthy
from its long travels in the outside grid, so there's no way you can clean
it up with a dinky little line conditioner.

One last note about buying new equipment: Haw, haw, haw. A Professional
Audio Clown gets his stuff for next to nothing, either by stealing loaners
outright and reporting them lost, or promising favorable writeups in
exchange for free gear. Haw, haw, haw.

hmmm.....

well..... he's the Ozark Bicycle Service guy.
You know, the guy with the great website and
the hugely successful bicycle repair business.
You know, the guy that lives at home with his
mom and dad in Rogers, Arkansas. He's the
big, balding, tubby, red faced, pony-tailed,
beady-eyed, hippy liberal that "voted for the
other guy."

come on, Arn.... think!

On average, no more, but no less, than usual. And I certainly won't be
run off by an addle-brained, castrated nimrod like Tom Albertz. :-)

Seems important to Middius and his acolytes, such as Phillips and

The CD1 plays SACD, CD2 plays HDCD, and CD3 is the oldest of three
and is just a reg. cd. There are noticeable differences among these three.
I'm sure Ferstler will understand.

Sadly, I have to spend more for the sorbotane feet, tiptoes, pucks, and
