Default Connecting Headphones to a pre-amp

There is trend with pre-amps these days to NOY include a headphone
jack or means of connecting headphones. So how does one do this? Buy
a headphone amp?

Or build one.
www.headwize.com

Or use an adapter, most lineamps will be able to handle "not too low
impedance" headphones.

One solution is to not buy a preamp with no headphone output.

The reason it was dropped is because the entire feature had to be
added, since the output of a preamp is not sufficient to drive
headphones. With a receiver, headphone output is simply a divided
down version of the output of the power amp.

Pete's right. I've yet to run into any line out that could not drive 60 ohm
Grado phones just fine. The voltage required is so low that the phone's
impedance being way below the line out's rated load is not really a problem.
You may loose some bass extension in some cases.
