Default Paging Scott Dorsey

I put one of your DIY DI boxes together today according to the March
1998 article in Recording Magazine.
It is working without phantom power, which doesn't seem right to me.
When I turn the phantom power on, the signal gets hotter, but only a
couple of db. Is it supposed to work this way, and if not, any ideas
what I messed up?

This is Mr. Dorsey's Answering Service. Mr. Dorsey is sound asleep and
recovering from a cold, hence his conspicuous absence from this forum.

Mr. Dorsey will be back on line sometime tomorrow, depending on whether I
badger him mercilessly to fix me breakfast, take me down to the Palace
Gardens and then out for Gelatto. I will tell him of your predicament,
however, and have him seek out and answer your query. In the interim,
please stand by...

Damn near coughed up on my keyboard over that one. The above is a
serious contender for funniest post of the year.

It worked, though. He fixed me breakfast and we are going out to the
gardens in a little bit.
