I use a marshall jcm 800 and a jcm 900 both through 1960 a cabs. on
stage ive used power attenuators and they just degrade the sound. Is it
possible to run both amps each on a different channel through the
marshall el34 100/100.will this degrade the tone or make it better? or
is that just insane

It sounds likely to me that the tone you like is cause by speaker breakup as
much as the amplifier.

The only way to achieve that is to drive them hard ( ie. loud ).

I assume your idea is to avoid defeaning yourself in order to get the sound you
want. You could perhaps try smaller speakers or of course a simulator may do
better than that.
