Yes, and yes.
The recording mechanism is the same.
But the audio tapes will not work in a computer drive (just coding with
the holes in the shell of the tape).

Yes, if you use it according to instructions and use it sparingly. DAT
recorders don't get very dirty very fast and running a cleaning tape
causes a lot more head wear than running a standard tape, even though
it's only for a few seconds. Once a month probably will overall be
beneficial if you're not up to taking off the cover and cleaning the
heads manually, but once a day will almost certainly shorten the life
of your recorder.

Some will, some won't, some will in some decks and won't in others. If
you stick to the 60 meter length of data tape (2 hours recording time
of DAT audio), you should get good results in your Panasonic or just
about any other DAT. But longer tapes are thinner and some decks can't
adjust their tension to accommodate it.

If you don't want to take the chance, I have (3) brand new, unopened
DAT cleaning cassettes you can have for $20 total (2 Denon, 1 Sony).

You can, but the cleaning tapes really don't do much good. You'll be
a lot better off just doing it by hand.

If they are 60 meter ones. The 90m and 120m ones are thinner material.
