please recommend good headphones for ambient and electronic...
hi,
please recommend good headphones for ambient and electronic and rock music. I know which companies make good headphones, but the problem is that they are not always good for the kind of music I usually listen to. E.g. I have bought Sennheiser once. The headphones were great..........for acoustic and classical music , but not so good for ambient, electronic and rock. this is why i am trying now to find out which model exactly is good for the kinds of music like ambient, electronic and rock. the source of sound will most often be IPOD (portable Mp3 player) thank you! |

Many people, me included, recommend the Sony MDR-V6 headphones for such purposes. They're not usually sold in hi-fi places but in pro audio dealers for studio use. Lots of sellers on the net have them, often for very low prices. Andrew. |

The most likely cause of sound problems you have will be the input to the headphones. Without the proper processing for this type of music from your ipod or other device you wont get the sound you want. If you listen to it loud then you'll most likely be driving the amp to teh headphone amp quite hard. the amp will find it hard to reproduce a signal a thte extremes of the frequency range. particularly at low impedances. below 32ohms which some units are. Try altering the eq slightly (dont over do it) you may find it makes more difference that you think. |

Give Grado headphones a try. We sold a set yesterday to a fellow
trying them with an I-Pod and he loved them. These were the least expensive models also. -Bill www.uptownaudio.com Roanoke VA (540) 343-1250 "Andrew" wrote in message ... hi, please recommend good headphones for ambient and electronic and rock music. Just bought some Sony 7506s, partially because of the positive mentions
here. I have listened to everything from Stockhausen to Haydn and I haven't found anything they can't do. Super articulate, defined clean timbres and they good deep. |

Someone recommended Grado's and they are great 'phones (I own a pair of SR225's). But BEWARE, these have to be the absolute cheapest made $200 headphones in the world. I suppose they were trying to keep the weight down, but the plastic parts that hold the thing together have broken countless times and I have had to superglue them back together each time. I bring this up only because you mentioned using your 'phones in conjunction with an iPod and therefore they will be on the go and might be subject to rough treatment. MOSFET |
