Amp Shuts down
I am running a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP that I have hooked to a Sony X plod
500 Watt Amp that is feeding 2 pairs of Polk Momo MMC6500 with the 2 way's attached. The problem that I am having is when ever I start to turn up the stereo the amp shuts down. I have tried turning the amp all the way down but I am still having the same problem with the amp shutting down. I know that the amp works I took it out of my truck where it worked fine. I have tried to run the head unit and the speakers by them self with and with out the 2 way's but when the bass hits all I hear is a clicking noise. I am running a regular battery and a 600-watt alternator. Does any one have any ideas what I can try next? |

Amp Shuts down
what impedence are the polk speakers, and how do you have them wired to the amp? is it a 2 channel or 4 channel? the click you hear when they are attached to the head unit is from either clipping or lack of a lowpass filter. basically, the bass is distorting, and if you drive them hard and bottom out the speakers you can destroy them. -- KU40 |
