help backing tracks drums.! PLS PLS
hi i play in a band. we don't have a drummer so we use fruity loops
and some samples as a drum machine. i have also a girl who plays keyboard, and the keyboard is connected to a laptop that we use in our "studio" to practice, thanks to a MIDI interface.. this just to have good sounds for the keyboard. Now we are gonna play live for the first time, so i wanted a good sound. I made mp3s of the songs that we are gonna play.. on the mp3 there are mostly drum parts, and some samples. I thought that to let more flexibility to the guy who will fix the sound on mixer.. it would be better to have two sources.. one for the mp3s (backing tracks) and one for the keyboard that will be played from the pc. So in our "studio" i played with the keyboard in the laptop and then i took the out of the laptop put it in a d.i. box and then into the mixer. For the backing tracks, i played them on a portable cd player, i took the LINE OUT from the cd player and put it into the mixer. The problem is that the backing tracks were low in volume, i fear that in a live situation this won't fit the mix. Our backing tracks should be our "fake drums" and so it should have a good volume to mix well with live: keyboard, bass, guitar and voice. I made the mp3s with fruity loops, using the steinberg free filter to copy the equalization from famous songs and then import it in my mp3s, just cause i'm unable to equalize and made mastering of my songs.. but done this, i wasn't happy with the volume, so i took the mp3s import them in goldwave and compressed it to get more volume. Yesterday i played the songs from the cd player in my studio connecting the line out to a mono channel on the mixer, and playing with only one PA crate (not two), and i felt the volume was too low. I must say that i was using less of half of the volume of my potentiometer, and that i had no gain on that channel. can u help me, would using a d.i. box to connect the cd, help in some way.. cause at home with headphones the mix and the volume where good. thanks to anyone will read or reply to this, and i must say i'm sorry for my poor english. |
