****SCHOEPS OWNERS STEP INSIDE*****
KC Stereo Mounts enable owners to accurately set up a stereo pair of
microphones while only having to use one shockmount: NOS 30cm 90 degrees DIN 20cm 90 degrees DINa 17cm 90 degrees ORTF 17cm 110 degrees ORTFw (wide) 25cm 110 degrees Vertical address with both 17cm and 20cm at 0 degrees MidSide at 0 degrees Omni with three openings: 20", 17", and 14" at 0 degrees If you are intersted, please email me at Louie.Liokis @ gmail.com make sure you state KC Mount in the subject line The hardest mount to make is the omni bar, so it went first to see if it was even possible. Looks like you can run 2 pairs of mics with no problem. I am going to sell them with a bag of washers to ensure a snug fit The V bar is going to look the same but just shorter and with holes drilled at 17 and 20 Pictures: OMNI http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...er/Omni002.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...er/Omni004.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...er/Omni014.jpg Update 2/4/09 The Vertical Address and M/S mounts are completed. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...andMSMount.jpg with mics in MidSide - which does require rubber seals to make it tight. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...KCMount004.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...KCMount009.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...KCMount010.jpg Vertical Address Bar 20CM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...KCMount017.jpg 17CM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...KCMount020.jpg |

snipped I'd recommend ORTF. With a measurement ruler & protractor, it should be very easy to set up. ORTF is the best of both worlds, close to binaural w/headphones & combines to stereo speakers well. An adjustable stereo bar should work fine for this. -Denny I forgot to mention that the 17cm applies to the distance between mic diaphragms. The distance is important, but it is also individual. People with fat heads need more than 17cm, & people with small heads need less; 17cm is the average human. Your mileage may vary. -Denny |

The 17cm spacing of an ORTF pair is often thought to relate to the human interaural distance, but this is only coincidence. If you change the distance or you change the angle, it's no longer ORTF but some other near-coincident method. That's not a bad thing, mind you, and in most rooms you will benefit a little bit from altering the configuration a little bit. It depends more on the room than on the listener, but of course everything involved in the recording and reproduction chain has something to do with personal tastes. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
