Default FA: Tascam CD-RW5000 Recorder

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ADME:B:LC:US:1

This recorder is a "handyman special"; it has trouble reading the
newer 24x and 48x blank CD-R's. I talked to a trusted tech who is an
authorized TASCAM repair person; he said that he has encountered the
same problem on other units and suggested 2 things:

1. The unit may need a new optical drive mechanism, and/or

2. TASCAM has issued a replacement e-prom for this unit that seems to
help with the "reading newer discs" issue.

In any case, the unit is in very good cosmetic condition and, if
nothing else, is a well-constructed rack-mount CD player (it still
plays already-recorded discs fine). Don't need it since I have a
Masterlink for CD burning.
