Default alarm install in a 2002 neon problem

hey, i'm trying to install an alarm in my 2002 neon but run into a problem
with the voltage sensing part of it. in the alarm the wire that powers the
alarm is supposed to go into the dome light fuse and sense varying voltage
when the doors are opened. in my 02 neon, this fuse doesn't change voltage
when the dome light is on. so opening the door doesn't trip the alarm. i
have located a wire that is positive when the light is off and goes
completley negative when the light comes on, but i dont think i can use it
because when it goes negative, the alarm wil die. the real problem that i
know nothing about it the dome light had a dimmer on it and a delay for when
you shut the doors. i don't know if i need to find the dimmer module and
splice a wire there of if the whole thing is hopeless. does anyone know
what i can do, or if there is another wire i can splice to that is +12 volts
and varys when the light comes on? any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel

You might give it a test by hooking up to the pos. terminal as far away from
the battery as you can...the voltage to anything in the car would come from
this terminal. There are generally two wires off of the pos. terminal the
one for the starter and then another going to a solenoid. One of these will
have to be what your clock and other constant power needs. Not sure what it
would be on the neon but try these one of them should work just for the
voltage sensing.

voltage sensing alarms suck in general. Get yourself a real alarm with a door trigger and shock sensor and call it a day.
