Altec Lansing systems and Volume Controls in General
The problem I would like to fix: I have been using Microsoft Digital
speakers that are controlled through USB. The integration with Windows volume control is terrible, and the speakers have buttons that have to be held down to slowly change the volume. I would like FAST volume changing. I found Altec Lansing VS3251, a cheap set of surround speakers with a wireless remote. I would like to know if the response of the remote is fast. Namely, if I press a button, do volume changes happen quickly? Also, it is not a surround system, but the Altec Lansing VS2421 set has a wired volume controller. I'd prefer surround, but because of a traditional volume knob, It looks like I can turn this one down instantly and/or press the mute button and instantly mute the system, just like an old-fashined stereo with analog controls. I'm liking this one the best so far. Opinions on these and other systems to gain fast volume changing (someone walks in the room, lower volume quickly) is appreciated. Thanks, John |
