Default Replace Factory bose speakers?

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder and it had the premium bose system in it. I
replaced the HU with an alpine 9815 and threw in 2 jl 12w7's but the only
thing I did for the doors is put a PIE converter on so there would not be
any problems with the head uit to factory speakers. Is it worth getting the
factorys replaced. Im used to the highschool days where all i did was cap
off the factorys and use them as tweeters. so if you have any input please
let me know

Depends what you're trying to achieve. The fact that you put a pair of
12w7's in there without upgrading the speakers sort of indicates that you're
more interested in bass than accurately reproducing the music, no? If
that's the case, or if you have no plans on driving aftermarket speakers
with an amplifier, then your best bet is probably to keep the Bose speakers.

Get rid of the Bose --- it's junk (or soon will be).

As far as if it is worth it; there has been somewhat of a puzzling
dialogue about that. In my opinion it is better to upgrade from stock if
you can get much better speakers at a fair price. Consider high-end used
gear if you are on a tight budget.

Anything coaxial will sound better than the Bose speakers. Of more concern
is the impedance matchup. The Bose use wierd, low, impeadance where all
aftermarket speakers (coaxial) are industry standard four ohm. There is
nothing more unreliable in automobiles than the Bose "Premium" package. Ask
any Cadillac owner. Of course, the best sound would come frome amplified
speakers, not Bose powered. P.

Peter you're correct they spec out about 0.25 ohms or so. in a vette they
were 1/8 of a ohm.

Many Bose speakers have unusually low impedance, but not
1/8 ohm. Not even 1/4 ohm. Either your information is
wrong, your measurments are erroneous, or the speaker
you evaluated was defective. Bose has never used anything
lower than 1/2 ohm in a Corvette. Before 1996, nothing
lower than 1 ohm. Their amplifiers typically put out
6-7 Vrms max. At 1/8 ohm, that's approximately 300 - 400 W,
and no single amplifier channel in a Bose system has ever
put out that kind of power. At 1/2 ohm, 7 Vrms is about
100 W, and they HAVE approached that level of power.
