If you can find a new transport mechanism for your acurus, it is no
problem.
It skips? Does play CDRW or CDR? When laser is worn, first drops CDRW
and then CDR and the last CD. I had this same kind of problem with
Marantz CD17 and by replacing old transport with new one, all problems
was gone. Heat is the worst enemy of laser head. If you change the
transport, try to prevent heat efecting on laser, it increases laser
heads life time.
