Default Sony support for non-US items?

For all the US readers of this NG...

I ordered a Sony HU from Hong Kong (MX-7700MDX) and just had it installed.
It doesn't seem to want to get along well or play nicely with me... that is,
it won't power on. My first course of action has been to order another
wiring harness, in the hopes that the problem lies there. The car's
electric system ('03 350Z) appears to be in good order.

Without going into too many details, it's going to be a serious PITA to get
this item exchanged if it turns out to be defective. I was hoping one of
ya'll might know of a Sony authorized service center in the US that handles
(specializes?) in Sony gear that's not normally sold in the North American
market.

Any ideas? Thanks!
