Tascam DM-3200 Alesis HD-24 Bugs...
I've upgraded my mixer from a DM-4000 to a DM-3200. I was using a BRC
to control my HD24, upgraded the mixer and now when I have the brc on it spits out all sorts of clicks on the first channel of the adat group. Turn off the BRC and it goes away. I've tried INT clocking, same thing. I called Tascam.. they had no clue why it was doing that, and suggested I use MMC and word clock and use the onboard machine control. While Im waiting for the wordclock cable to be delievered, anyone have experience with this? I've configured the board so some of the MMC functions work, rec, play, stop, manual location, arming recording channel. Im lead to believe that full MMC is possible once the wordclock is set up. Is this true? Thanks in Advance Bill Rampage Sound Studios Lancaster, Pa |

Is this true? I would suggest using a wordclock connection from the either the BRC to your mixer or the HD24 to your mixer and using the BRC to control the HD24 with the ADAT sync connector. I don't believe that MMC will control all of your channels track arming functions. I may be wrong, though. I have never had much luck clocking devices with just an ADAT lightpipe, as a rule I always use a wordclock connection in addition to the ADAT connector and set the clock source accordingly. |

In the DM3200 under Clock, you can tell the DM3200 to arm all 24 channels or in various steps of channels. Problem is with the BRC Channel one has all the time code in the 8 channel group. With the brc off... it doesnt' show up, I just turn the bugger on.. and voila noise. Does it with the DM3200 on internal clock and adat and slot clocks. I seem to recall awhile ago someone posting the same issue, but don't recall the outcome. Would make sense to wordclock.. should give me full closed mmc support, right now its open mmc without the clocking. Two steps forward... one step back. Bill Rampage Sound Studios Lancaster, Pa |
