Viper alarm remote valet doesn't work
I just purchased a used car that needs some repairs, and I want to
turn on valet mode so I don't keep getting the alarm going off in my ear. However, I can't find the valet switch, and the remote valet doesn't seem to work either. I don't know which model I have, but I have buttons I through IV on the remote, and all the viper manuals for four button systems say I have to open a door, press I, press II, and press I again. This even worked last week one time and I was able to work on the car. Then it took me a while to get it to come out of valet mode. Now I just can't seem to get it to go back into valet mode. Is there something the manual doesn't mention that I am not doing. Like does the key have to be in the ignition, or something? Alternatively, if anyone can suggest places where I might find the valet switch, as it is not under the drivers side dash. Thanks, Paul |

Try looking in your glove box or under the front of the drivers seat. If
the valet switch has been damaged then the system won't go into valet. On a Viper the valet switch is a black pushbutton. Paul Vina "Paul Tomko" wrote in message om... Your alarm installer may have thought like mine and not installed a valet
switch. I asked them why and they said "All a theif has to do is break the ignition and hit the valet switch to turn of the alarm". -- --------------------------------------------- :-D I just cut the cheese! "All a theif has to do is break the
ignition and hit the valet switch to turn of the alarm". WOW, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If I ever heard one of my installers say that they would be fired on the spot. That was just the installer being to lazy to install the valet switch. So with no valet switch what happens when the batterys in your remotes stop working??or if you lose them and your alarm is going off?? Sorry just needed to vent now back to the original question.....Assuming a switch was installed you could start looking in the most common places, Glove box, Center Console,Under the drivers seat,Kick panels,ect... or you could look under the dash for a Gray/Black zip cord, and see where it goes.Once you find it all you need to do is Open the drivers door, turn the ignition on,turn the ignition off, press the valet switch. Viper alarm remote valet doesn't work
My installer likes to come up with clever hiding spots. One was behind
the dash in one of those removable trim pieces that gets replaced with functional pieces depending on the trim level (eg. LS, LT, LTS, LX, etc). Like for extra buttons and stuff. The newer Viper alarms seem to use a toggle switch instead of the push button. The Responders are like that anyway. So moral of the story is to look in funky hiding places as well as the obvious ones. I had a alarm installed and the installer didn't hook the trunk or the hood
to it. It told me when I brought it back that he didn't like adding pin switches under the hood because they rust and cause problems. The trunk he said they usually charge extra even though they said the $300 was to install all of the features of the alarm. He added them both for free and it only took him 30 minutes after a protested. He was just being lazy. "Mark S." wrote in message ...
