Nothing special, really.
Starting this februari, I'll be working for one of the major European
sound reinforcement companies, as a technical advisor/
designer/engineer .

My specialisation is, and will be, amplifiers, of course.
We'll be starting a new line of "class D" amplifiers this year.
(that's something else, 2 x 3 kW in a 2 HE 19 inch box!)

In the USA, a lot of people join the corporate fold just to get the
health insurance and other benefits.

Good luck though. I'm sure our friend from Michigan has turned down
several jobs like that one. :-)

Well, I chose this job because it's an interesting challenge, and also
because I finally found out that other fields of electronics aren't
just as much fun as audio is.

The benefits in other areas are there, of course :-)

Sander,
For the sake of job tenure, don't push SETs too hard

I'm not a SET person, I always advocated PP amps.

However, I've heard some beautiful music coming from a homebrew SETup
made by one of my pals, with '60s Philips speakers.
Not too much lower end, but the mids were about the best I've ever
heard.

Sound reinforcement is quite a different business, you will note.
But they already asked me to sneak in a tube somewhere :-)
