Don't know about the Quads but those Talon's for under $5K are incredible
value if they are in good shape. Much better than Wilsons, Merlins and

S-F
Extremas (which I have owned).

Which model? I've heard the Talon Khorus, and it is indeed a fine

speaker, but
it's $15K.

Hi Marc!

www.jeffssoundvalues.com/ has 2001 Peregrines for under $5K. If I recall
correctly they retailed for $11K new (although the site claims $13K). Even
if they are the version with the older crossover (which some people
apparently prefer to the new one) they are outstanding for the money and
upgradable.

On a related note, I have just discovered that I prefer the Talon sub to the
M-L subs that I just bought for my Prodigys. GRRRRR!!!!

Cheers,

Margaret

Back to the Quads, have you ever heard them with the dedicated Gradient subs?
They're amazing! And you could always ask The Devil about the huge Volt

My prediction for the next few posts in this subthread:

PB: "Its like you can bring back the dead sockpuppet Maggie? LOL!
GMAB! LOt"S!"

MvB: "All I'm asking is what price you'd pay, hypothetically, to
undo your terrible loss."

PB: "OK Sockpupeet Maggie suppose we could all get back somebody,
who died that was in our family? Would you stop slandering my son
and my wife's sex life if you could make that happen sockpuppet
Maggie?"

MvB: "Try to focus here, Arnii. You're the one who insisted we all
take notice of your son's death. Leave your poor victim of a wife
out of it and answer the question."

PB: "LOL! Its like I'm the only one who, engages in what you
collarfully called "sh*t-sli*ging" sockpuppet Maggie. When you can
stop the s*it from being sl*ng by Philips and Midduis and the rest
of Atkinsons clique sockpuppet Maggie we can all sit around and
reminisce about the good old days when you pervorts did NOT talk
about audio! LOL!

Yep the Finnish ones. I've heard good things about their Revolution

speaker,
too...that it sounds very Quad-like for a dynamic speaker.

I haven't heard the Revolution either but I believe it is designed to sound
good regardless of placement, more or less. I wonder if this stuff is still
available in the US.

There was a rather long, involved thread about it here mebbe a year ago.

I've
spoken to him on the phone about it at length, and apparently it's heaven

on
earth at his place. He's been prodding me to take the Quad plunge for a

while,
and I'll probably do it. I want to hear the Harbeth Monitor 30 in my

house
first.

I don't have much experience with Brit speakers beyond B&W and ATC which
were quite impressive active units that could play incredibly loud and clean
for their smallish size. Never liked any KEF or Linn.

Ever compared the Quad to M-L CLS? If so, I'd be interested in your
observations.

Cheers,

Margaret

I'm pretty dedicated to British speakers myself. I own two pairs of Spendors
right now. I love Quads, and I'm trying to hear more Harbeths right now.

Ever compared the Quad to M-L CLS? If so, I'd be interested in your

I've heard the CLS only once, a good ten years ago, and was very impressed by
them. What I remember most about them was their ability to sound good even at
very low volume levels. I've heard Jim Sanders' ReQuests many times and I like
them as well. I've never been able to directly compare Quad with M-L, but I
suspect I'd pick the Quads. I was able to borrow a pair of 63s a few months
ago, and they may be the best speakers I've heard.

Really? I would think that the normal adult response to others who want to
have sex with children would be to separate them from children, try to get
them medical help for their problem, and take legal action if these people
show signs of acting on their desires.
