$61.36 each, used. The original MSRP was $50.00. Now they're $139.00.
Lou Burroughs is smiling.

When? $50 in 1960 is $401 now.

Now they're $139.00.
Lou Burroughs is smiling.

He did good.

Yup. Announced in 1965, they're still a great bargain today. And, you
might be able to pound nails with them!

The "original" Buchanan Hammer was the EV 666. Soon after its introduction
in 1965 the 635A assumed that name. EV co-founder Lou Burroughs used to
visit large users of mics to show new products and advise on technique. I
worked at ABC-TV Hollywood and had the pleasure of getting to know Lou. To
show off the 635A he would talk into it, using a small portable PA setup.
Then he would unplug it and smack a piece of pine two-by-four a few times.
When he plugged it back in, it worked as before. One time it did not! A
solder connection had failed. When repaired, it passed production line QC
tests. Lou looked back over his notes and determined that it had hit that
piece of wood about 15,000 times!

I wonder how many units it has sold to date.
