I had a friend give me a link to this. The guy that came up with it is
designing it into a JVC head unit. I have no idea if this has been tried
before for an aftermarket head unit, but it sounds interesting. I know that
Bose has been using vehicle-specific EQ curves, with questionable, mixed
results. Anyhow, I thought it was at least intriguing.

what bothers me is that JVC is using it. If Alpine or some other high end
company was using it, it would give it more credibility.
But with JVC using it, it makes it sound (no pun intended) maor like a
gimic. I guess that real test will be to go and listen to then ourself..

On the other hand, it may simply be that Bongiovi likes JVC and took it to them
first, or they were just the first ones he went to that decided to pick it up.
He may not have even approached Alpine or any other "high-end" names. From what
I read in the article, the basic technology seems to have been developed
separate from JVC or any other car-audio brand, and JVC is simply the first to
bring it to market. Nothing saying other manufacturers won't be following suit,
or aren't already working with it - all they say is that it's "making its debut"
via JVC.
