LEE'S SITE IS NON-PROFIT, HAS ALWAYS BEEN!! can you get that through your thick ****ing skull?? what does he have to gain?? "Gain" does not mean monetary profit. Perhaps you should introduce a dictionary to your thick ****ing skull. i doubt he has run the site for 7+years now Good, because he hasn't. He took the site over from a guy named Carl. Your peers seem to have realized that I came on this topic speaking common sense, and some of them i have actually agreed with, but you for some reason do not seem to understand the meaning of common sense. Your 'common sense' has some uncommonly biased spin in it. HOW CAN SOMEONE STEAL SOMETHING THAT IS PUBLIC DOMAIN?? The FAQ is not in the public domain. if he stole it am i to assume that he is taking profit away from Ian?? Mobileaudio.com hosts banner ads which pay on a per impression basis. By taking profit away, he is in fact costing Ian money. Probably a whopping $1.20 a month at that. As if that was the point, however. and you speak of this "etiquette" .. of which i can obviously tell you are full of.. true southern gentleman i can tell... where is this posted?? i see nothing in the FAQ on RAC etiquette... or protocol... where is THIS listed??? Usenet protocol. You're familiar with google. is the protocol of RAC to post endless posts starting dozens of completely new ones about everyone that ****es you off?? as far as I've seen 99.9% of your posts have been off topic drivel.. As have 99.9% of all posts by CAF members. BTW, I have not started a new "thread" in months. You suffer the limitation of your crappy usenet "gateway". All I do is alter the subject line. A real newsreader would have threaded the posts according to the X-Ref header. This is your handicap, not mine. Since you and your kind show no respect for RAC, I'm more than happy to hand it back to you. The difference is, my tweaking of subject lines doesn't ass up rac the way your inane drivel asses up both RAC and CAF. I Wrote "What is the point of a FAQ? To facilitate in the search for information." And you said the exact same thing except you said it is only for noobies... No, I didn't. You're lack of reading comprehension is rather atypical given your former organization of enlistment. I defined the FAQ as a tool which alleviates the burden upon regulars in assiting newbies. You try to make it out to be some kind of encyclopedia. and im to assume since you call me a pogey that you must be infantry? I don't believe I called you a "pogey" specifically. -- thelizman "I didn't steal the FAQ either" Before you ask a question, check the FAQs for this newsgroup at http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq. The FAQ needs a major update
Whew!... hehe... i agree with you totally on most points, and i agree,
that a RAC document has every right to be assembled and mantained by a RAC person, however, it seems to me that by Lee putting a copy on his site, it would only tend to broaden the scope of persons who view the FAQ, and if any glory is brought about as a result, it would be the persons who wrote and assembled the document, not the person hosting it. I see it differently. I think it would serve to dilute the FAQ, and instead will lead to asynchrony between the two. When there are updates (Mar 3 is the next one I believe), will Lee pick them up? And if CAF folks update it, I know that Ian won't unless it goes through the review process that Ian has set up. As you can see, there will essentially be two FAQs for the same newsgroup. Five years from now, which will be the "right one"? CAF should work towards putting together it's own FAQ, or tech section, or whatever you want to call it. The RAC FAQ should be left to those who actively participate in RAC, whether they've been participating for one year or ten. |

i think the FAQ on CAF should of simply been a link to the original
FAQ i am only here because some of the elders seem to think anyone outside their little usernet group are a bunch of idiots, which is far from the truth I don't think that's true at all. There are only a few "elders" left in RAC. Most of the "elders" left about two years ago. Everyone else you see around here is relatively new. People are only criticized if they say something worth criticizing. Sometimes it's harsh, but that's life. |

I now pay extra just to access through giganews using forte agent or outlook express. My new theory is that these people are masochists... |

You're not suggesting that he doesn't care if anyone looks at his site or not, are you? Most people who put up sites, especially those with forums, want people to come. I'm not saying it's a financial benefit, but he's clearly running a site in hopes that people come to it! PS - there is a usenet protocol page somewhere. Do a google search. In fact, since google allows access to usenet, I'd bet they have a protocol listed on their own site. |

That "general knowledge" varies depending on who you ask. The answers to those questions are often wrong. for example, the competition section is obviously outdated...i could rewrite it to contain basic info about all 6 sanctioning bodies, put it in a FAQ at CAF or RAC and it would serve it's purpose all the same regardless of where it is located i understand that the FAQ at rac is meant to be used by members of this newsgroup, however, that does not mean the content is group specific knowledge I don't know what "group specific knowledge" is. If you mean answers to questions that have been provided by those posting in RAC, then I think by definition the RAC FAQ is "group specific knowledge." The answers differ in many respects to those that you'll receive in other forums, probably including those in CAF. We know this is true because Lee posted addendums to the bottom of some of the FAQ pages he put on his site - they generally said "We at CAF don't agree with this" |

actually, you have never tryed to explain anything snip You just don't get it. We have told you people time and time again what is expected of you on this forum. The FAQ needs a major update

actually, now that i am seeing beyond some of the childlike behavior of the senior rac members.... Don't you think your own immaturity had something to do with this issue? We didn't come to CAF and start assing your forum up - you came here. however, the majority of the information is very basic and general knowledge...i could basically copy it word for word, remove anything that had to do with rac, call it the CAF FAQ, and it would be entirely legal No, it wouldn't. It'd be called plagiarism, and it would get you in very serious trouble legally. Any individual who contributed to the FAQ granted license to the FAQ maintainer to reproduce that text. Copying something verbatim gives them the legal right to sue you for damages. Don't they teach about plagiarism and academic honesty anymore? -- thelizman "I didn't steal the FAQ either" Before you ask a question, check the FAQs for this newsgroup at http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq.
