Default "Free market conservatives" squeal in terror

Not all are squealing about the latest assault on Big Tobacco. Some are
yapping in outrage. What happened to spark this cacophony? The "free
market conservatives" (a mythical breed) are dismayed because their
"principles" are being sacrificed on the altar of Big Brother's
insufferable overlording.

"For adults who use tobacco products who want to avoid the health risks of
smoking, the best thing for them to do is quit," said William Phelps, a
spokesman for Altria [owner of Philip Morris].

There you have it, straight from the camel's mouth: Cigarettes will kill
you. But... but ... but ... what about those who get sick and don't die?
The "conservatives" hold that's the price of free choice. Pragmatists
counter that the price runs into the hundreds of billions every year. If
smokers want the public health system to pick up the tab for treatment,
shouldn't cigarettes be taxed accordingly?

The Scotties of the world probably aren't aware that insurance premiums in
"the best health care system in the world" [sic Senate Republican Caucus]
are adjusted for whether subscribers use tobacco. Of course they can't
raise your premiums if you use skag or crank because those drugs are
"illegal".

We owe so much to "conservatives". Why aren't they appreciated in their
own time?

All I can say is "crack cocaine"!
why not give a free sample in every pack of cigs?
I have no problem with that at all.
