Default Low Volume level on Pioneer VSX-81TXV

I recently purchased a Pioneer Elite VSX-81TXV which is rated at
110wpc. I've noticed that I have to turn this up to between -30 to
-20 to get lound enough volume for my tastes. It seems that I don't
hear ANYTHING in the -70 to -50 range. I must say though, this
VSX81TXV runs so cool (barely gets warm at all), while the VSX816 got
REALLY HOT!

Thanks!

Did you ever come up with a solution to the your low volume problem? I have a VSX-2016AV (almost same as the 81TXV, but for the European and Asian markets) which also has the same low volume problem. I often have to go to below -20 db on the volume control to be able to listen to music and movies at a decent level. Thanks for your help.
