I thought Canada had socialized medicine to take care of people, why is there a problem? Isn't socialized medicine all it is cracked up to be? We do have socialized medicine and a government program called "Pharmicare" that pays for your prescription pills to boot. Ours is one of the top-three best systems in the world, as crummy as it can be at times. Anybody want to stand behind me and pick up the bill ??? What is the problem with the bill? I have enough medical bills to pay already. No bill. FREE. Jim, Jim, calm down!
I see you misunderstand things a wee. Fred is getting the best care we can give him He does not pay for ANY medical services, our govt. does. He does not pay for ANY pills, our govt. does. He is on disability and is getting money for his lost wages. His wife has been granted medical leave, getting her wages and can be at Fred's side 24/7. Fred "feels" our love, but has chosen to not communicate until he is ready. The "wounded tom-cat" thing....he will be back. Many of us here are personal friends with him and we aren't lying when we say - "we can't get ahold of him, but last call he was OK" I love the guy like a big brother, so I understand how upset you are. But hey, even when I was insured for awhile privately, I had to pay a huge fee for an operation I had as well as pay the premium. I would have been far better off under a public system. An enormous % of everything I purchase goes to the guvmint in taxes, and I am a low income earner. The guvmint says it has a $7.5billion surplus, and it could well fund better public hospital care for everyone *without* the the inclusion of the obscene profits made by the private medicos in their latest model Mercedes. Since we have had a more lively Opposition Leader who tends to be socialist, the Guvmint has stuck a few bells and whistles onto the Medicare show, but its going to stay the same run down circus unless the Opposition win power in the very near national election we a due to have. The rich can well afford to subsidise the poor, by paying more % of their earnings in taxes. Business is run to take all that impost on business into account, and the prices we pay for goods and services from privately run companies include the greater share of taxes those rich companies have to pay. So when I buy from companies, I pay their tax for them! But hey, I just watched a TV show which outlined how over the last decade, US companies have been avoiding coughing the usual 30% tax on profits by means of tax minimization schemes, and now they might be paying 15%, leaving the little people to fund their own schools, universities and hospitals. AFAIK, the prices charged by these companies has stayed put, but returns to shareholders have boomed. Companies keep two sets of books, one bullish one to present to the stockmarket, and the other a bear book, which is shown to the tax people, whose lives are exceedingly dreary because they are so understaffed, and deliberately so, since the Dubya idea is to try to avoid taxes like the plague, and Dubya seems to have facilitated this idea. Letting company tax take go down is a fun way to subsidise business, especially if your family is in big business. So when I hear folks mouthing off at socialists, I know they are all bull**** and hot air. Do those people prefer a system where *everything* is cash in advance, and user pays, no matter what it is? So if a pauper breaks his leg, he's left in the gutter to die, eh? Let the ******* crawl to a hospital and beg, hey, why not shoot him, and toss him into the Hudson? Usually the lame brained rednecks and blusterers against socialists would all gladly hand their poor broken legged brother, or mother with a heart condition to a public taxpayer funded hospital for expensive treatment rather than raise huge loans to pay for the treatments. I am fortunate indeed to live in a western country democracy. There is a relatively fair go for all when it comes to health, because if I break my leg, the public system is there to help for "free", ie, no huge funds are required. The rich are welcome to pay their insurance premiums to get better percieved private hospital care if they want it, and should they complain about the millions of paupers wasting the taxes they don't pay, and should they form guvmints to rule under such greedy morals, then pity help the path of society under such ideas, because it rots at the core. Premiums for health insurance are rebated.... Our guvmints here in Oz are all Labour in all the states, ie, like the US Democrats. The only Guvmint which is Liberal, ie, like the Republicans, is the Federal one run by John Howhard. He does not appear to want to abolish public hospital funding in Oz with a key stroke, but little by little instead, in a mean and tricky form of attrition, while appearing to do the exact opposite, which is all of the art of being a clever politician whole has the spin doctors to fool the public most of the time, like they did over weapons of mass destruction. Had I been able to get the knee op 18 mths before last january when I had it, I would not have had to quit the workshop work for so long and be on the dole, and the op would have been more effective. This would have saved the taxpayer the equivalent cost of several operations. The Guvmint has quotas for operations at public owned hospitals, and my knee surgeon there tells me he could easily form a bigger team for orthopeadic work, cut waiting lists, but the Guvmint won't let him. A bigger slice of treatments could be done by the public hospital sector, but that would undermine the profitablility of the Guvmint mates in the MBA, Medical Bustard Association. When you next hear a rich guy wingeing about his taxes, and wingeing about those poor folks, and their sickness, kick him in th'ass willya! Phew, that was a lotta OT. My system is even better than I imagined May there be mercy in all of us for the poor *******s who try and tend our plagues. Freedom to be a rude iconoclast is great, but, it is not required that we all become rude iconoclasts. I am fortunate to have a disease for which there is no treatment. I lived in Canada for many years and love it up there.
I'm hearing that there are more private owned health care businesses openning in Canada. I know there are waiting lists for some operations, and you may be totally denied by the goverment certain procedures depending on the circumstances. If more private medical care is becoming available now up there I can understand why. However, the medical system in Canada, does provide good inexpensive care to the public in general. I think the canadian goverment health care system serves the public well. Now back to the TUBES, Scott Jim McDonald wrote: "Gregg" wrote in message news:O%FGc.611$eO.485@edtnps89... I'm found out, I have been discovered - I am a Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada member ;-p -- Gregg *It's probably useful, even if it can't be SPICE'd* http://geek.scorpiorising.ca We have a national conservative, ie right wing red-neck run guvmint which would love to see the publicly owned and funded hospital and health care system *all* privatised, so that the poor would be denied any treatments, while the the rich can afford the insurance premiums for the privately owned hospitals. I hope Fred is doin OK regardless of what sort of system he's attending. Patrick Turner. Like I said - socialists are *hilarious*. And you are unable to debate all the points I raised. I hope the God Of Triodes welcomes me to his workshop in the sky, where I can experiment with diode detectors for as long as I like without having to earn a living, and I can then put up with John Byrns wafting over on his cloud to tell me my detector buffer idea is unintelligent. I will hand him a glass of Heaven's Nectar, and be able to let him listen to my creations, and I am sure his work on radios will be enjoyable to behold. You think transistors sounded bad ... wait till you get up there and hear the angels singing. You then will throw out all the tube stuff you managed to schlep up there. Ah, but the special edition Made In Heaven branded NOS Triodes do sound rather good. Din't know 'bout that now dija? Dear RATs,
just a few words: 1 - I'm glad to know that Mr. Nachbaur lives in a country where there's a social medcare system, because it means that he will receive all necessary cares without selling his home for it. I've had a spinal surgery on the expenses of the Italian ministry of health, and I'm still walking on my own feet. Sure, I know it's not costless: my tax bill is over 50 Kbucks, but I know that in case of need I'll be taken to an hospital and nobody will search my wallet for a credit card before letting me in, nor will anybody care if I'm black, yellow, blue or pea-green; it is a matter of human rights here in Europe, not of $. 2 - now that we're all sure that our good fellow does not need our help, wouldn't it be a sign of respect for his privacy to go discussing our political ideas on another thread? I feel guilty chatting about a gentleman who finds himself in the "uncomfortable column of the statistics", and I'm sure that he already knows that all of us are wishing him to be back on-line soon. Gentlemen,
I spoke with Sharon (Fred's wife) tonight and they are back in their hometown for at least two weeks. Fred is in his hospital, but will be home, hopefully within a week or so. Fred has survived the first bout of radiation and his tumors are in remission or holding and becoming benign. The battle is 50% won :-) He is in good spirits, cracking jokes and misses you all a great deal. They are doing fine financially and their family strength is at 100%. Sharon has promised to call regularily with updates and I'll pass them on to you. She has asked that those of us with Deities to continue to petiton them for favor for Fred. Those of us who do not, love and well wishes are welcome. After two weeks, they'll assess the success of the radiation and either send him back for more or decide to keep him on regular chemo therapy. I know of at least six experienced professional doctors worldwide are involved and yes, the full tab is being picked up by the Province of British Columbia. Updates to follow......... -- Gregg *It's probably useful, even if it can't be SPICE'd* http://geek.scorpiorising.ca |

Besides, the devil has to have some entertainment and there is nothing funnier than seeing someone get bonked on the head with a stray bit of trash from heaven. Every time someone gets bonked, the victim says "Ouch! Dammit!" and everyone hollers "Too Late!" Then everyone laughs and laughs at the horrible joke! Why do they laugh? Because it is hell and everyone has to laugh at the horrible jokes. I wonder what Jesus would say if he got really mad? "Daddy dammit" comes to mind. r PS. Yes, I know.
