Default yamaha p2250 amp

So i just purchased this amp, and i hooked it up to my 18 inch speakers, and for some reason my home amp which is only 100 watts out powers it by a long shot. Am i hooking the speakers up wrong to the amp, i have only tried the one option to hooking it up and that is pluging them in, should i be trying to bridge it or is there something wrong with the amp, and if i do bridge it how do i do that
thanks

so i got the manual off the internet, bridged my speaker.... can u put another spaeker bridged, then i hooked up a equalizer it is much louder but i thought it was going to be 100 times as loud, should i be using p.a. speakers with a volume control on them witch i have they just need rebuilt
