Default AKG Solidtube - Repair Advice

Hi have a lovely old AKG Solidtube Mic, but there's a horrendous amount of crackling and popping coming from it these days with very much intermittent audio. I recently swapped out the cable for a fresh one, but the problem remains and I need to have it fixed (or attempt to do so myself).

Would any of you be able to point me to the right resources either to help in me fixing it myself, or more preferably point me towards a good repair company with quick turnaround in the South East (UK).

Many thanks,
Simon

I never, ever thought we'd be in an era when the Solidtube would be considered
old. Sheesh.

Anyway, the odds are that the capsule needs cleaning. They use an electret
capsule with a pop-together design like the C3000 so they are actually a lot
easier to clean than the older designs.

I'd just send it to AKG, they are pretty good about these things.

Hopefully the answers you've already received will have fixed it but if
you need to find a repairer then lots of people recommend Ashley Styles
for mic repairs in the UK. I also know of another person who might be able
to help but he's not a full time mic repairer and I'm not sure how busy he
is at the moment so email me if you want me to find out if he can help.

Cheers,

James.
