Default Sub box for a Ford Explorer Please Help!

I've got two 12's RF HE, and i'm looking for good hard clean bass.
of course its going to be a custom box, per specs. But i've heard a bandpass
hits hard, but does sound clean. and another guy said downfiring would be
best.
any suggestions are welcome
