2520 Schematics?
Does anyone know where I can get 2520 schematics? I'm interested in
any revision anyone might have, right back to and including the Melcor 1731. I'm trying to understand the evolution of the part, and thereby gain some insight into the choices the designers made. Thanks. |

2520 Schematics?
I'm only looking for schematics of the op-amp itself. I'd really like to
see original factory documents that detail any ECOs they implemented over the years. "Mike Rivers" wrote in message news:znr1081103165k@trad... As I recall there really isn't much inside those things. There's really not much to ECO. I might expect some changes here and there as parts become available and need to be subsituted with equivalents, but there isn't a lot to change. If you have a bad one (and everybody seems to), pop one open and look inside. as I recall it's the usual three-transistor configuration. I forget if they have a push-pull drive stage or a constant current source for the input stage, but there's not a whole lot in there. You might also try Modular Audio Products, or the power supply guys who currently run the company. They made a 2520 equivalent too, and there is one person left who still knows all the MAP stuff and has docs. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

2520 Schematics?
I've got one schematic that seems to have been the result of examining
several different units. It includes notes regarding the variations but no information regarding the dates or progression of the changes, or the reasoning behind them. I don't know who made this document. I'll e-mail it to you if you want it. ulysses In article , SeventhCircle wrote: Does anyone know where I can get 2520 schematics? Roger and friends have forgotten this is RAP, not "**** You, I'll post
anything I want to." Well if he/they want to use the bandwidth to BS about politics and religion, then I guess it's OK for me to BS about their hijacking the newsgroup. I could always just paste in long meaningless blocks of text. Maybe post a binary or two just to show I have the same disregard for the others here. Tim, why don't you come back and tell us what you're up to? Are you working on your own discrete op-amp module? ulysses Hi guy´s, This schematic ulysses talk about I think I have see in i Recording.org forum post for a time ago, I can not find this post but I have save my answer to this post, and here it is: (Bo Hansén wrote to recording.org) I have see "this" before but I don´t know if this is the first API 2520 after the Melcor 1731. I know that the API 2520 under 1980´s when Datatronix own API not have exact this circuit but a simular design, and what I remember this 2520 begin with a PNP differential pair with a current sourse that draw aprox. 50uA in each transistor, then a other NPN differential pair (no current sourse) that have aprox. 250uA in each transistor that feed the upper and lower "common emitter" PNP/NPN stage with aprox. 5 mA current through the output transistors bias diodes (the upper PNP have a 1:1 phase reverse NPN transistor before the base)and at last a complementary class A/B emitter follower with 5 ohms emitter resistors that have aprox. 15 mA quiescent current. Pretty like this schematic you show here, but with different polarity on the differential pairs and the current sourse on the input pair. This op-amp has a pretty usal circuit design that was very ordinary for this time around 1960/70 for industrial/instrumentation application. The 2520 is not a fast op-amp compare with to day´s op-amps,(TL071/5534 around 15V/uS) it have only a slew rate of 3V/uS with a result of aprox. 30-50 kHz bandwith for full output swing, but the 2520´s strenght was the output current competent, it can easy drive a output transformer with 75 ohms primary, and according my comprehension is that a part of the famous API sound. (the other part is the old 2503 quadfilar output transformer) --Bo |
