Dynamic range of a Behringer ECM8000

I think it's the amp, because what I hear on the track is a lot what I hear in the room, but I haven't got a great deal of data to argue with. The recorded signal has plenty of headroom, but I didn't have the gain up much at all. My story so far has been "d00d, yer amp just sounds like that way up close." You're probably quite right, but so many have heard amps through SM57's that they really do not want to know what their amp really sounds like. LMAO ! Graham |

"Les Cargill" wrote in message ng.com About where would one of these begin to overload? note: I have two ECM 8000s connected to my 02R96 at church Given that external attenuators are readily available and cheap, that's a moot question. Application is electric guitar amp - 18W, *fairly* loud ( but not obscenely loud) but very up close. ECM8000s have overload lights, and I'm under the impression that there is some logical connection between their illumination state and actual overload. One caveat - I have one channel on my ECM8000 farm that lost half of its mic input. So, I'd try a different input on the ECM 8000. Are we talking about the same thing? The topic is about this microphone: http://www.behringer.com/ECM8000/index.cfm?lang=eng Are you thinking of the ADA8000? http://www.behringer.com/ADA8000/index.cfm?lang=ENG Sean |

I have 2 ECM8000s that are hung over the platform at church, and connected to my 02R96. I also have 2 ADA8000s hooked to the same O2R. |

Graham Nope - got that covered. *Always* a great question, though. One peaked about -6dB, the other about -12dB. Too hot, really, but that's breaks. -- Les Cargill |

It's easy to eliminate everything downstream of the microphone, with an arbitrarily bigass pad, so the remaining question is your original one. Funny how Usenet works, but it's also a truly Scientific Method'y one. Someone asks a question; everyone attempts to chip off any inconsequential details; the questioner responds; interate as needed, and as interest lasts. Sometimes the result is a Really Good Question, the highest of Human pursuits. Might have a good'un here. Much thanks, as always, Chris Hornbeck |

Jim Savery I think it is. Drop a line to George in aapl-s and he'll have his contact details. Jim is a really good guy, but unfortunately I don't have his email anymore. Glenn D. |
