om... hi there i,m looking for suggestions on close miking vocals and acoustic guitar together using figure of 8 patterns on both mikes i was thinking of 2 ld,s or possibly a ribbon on the guitar .vocals are Nick Drakish ,guitar is a Gibson j30 which i want to sound big and warm I,m going to hire the mikes so u47,s Royers,87,s are all possibilities thanks for any ideas.julian I'd suggest using a condenser on the guitar rather than a ribbon, as ribbons don't do the 'sparkly" thing too well. Use either a ribbon or a condenser on the vocal depending on what suits the voice. I'v had really good sucess with this using an M49 for guitar and a B&O ribbon on the vocal. HEAPS of isolation, nice fat vocal sound and big juicy guitar tone as well. -- John Cafarella EOR Studio Melbourne Australia [ cafarellaj at powertel dot com dot au ] |
