Default Steve Bench's RAT tube tester

I was wondering if anyone's built the RAT tube tester. I'm trying to
get a logical layout for the panel and the components. I've emailed
Steve a couple of times, but I know this has been a difficult year for
him so I didn't want to push it. If anyone can give me some ideas as
to layout and maybe some pics of a completed unit I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Greg

been looking at building that and I would love to discuss via email any
developement plans.
Is this something that you would be building soon?
or a bunch of research and learning first?

Hi Doug,

I've been doing some research on this project and I have the
transformers and some other parts for it. I plan on building it within
the next month or so. I've decided to build a wooden box like the old
tube testers (and combining another one of my hobbies) and a metal
panel that screws into the box. Just would like to get an idea of
layouts that people may have used so I can start planning it.

Greg

Mine is built in a 12 inch wide, 5 inch high, 6.75 inch deep
aluminum box with the sockets mounted on top and controls
mounted on the front panel.

As I think I've mentioned, one common issue that's come
up is the connection to the DMM. If your AC meter is
sensitive to DC, make sure you put a cap in series with
the meter. The commonly reported symptom is that
gm seems to be OK, but mu seems incorrect. With no
DC across the meter everyone seems to be getting
correct results.

Best Regards,
Steve

Hi
Mine is built working for about 6 months now. Used a metal instrument box
from discarded medical equipment with valve sockets along the top, meters
and controls on the front. Box already had 3 panel meters mounted so I used
these as the volt and Ma meters for setting anode/screen volts etc. Added a
millivoltmeter so whole thing is self contained. If you want I can send you
some pics
