When Verizon stopped carrying the alt hierarchy in usenet several months ago, they sent a notification to all their customers. I'll bet they had to hire extra people to answer all the phone calls from clueless customers. Not to mention hire extra people who actually knew what NNTP is ... No Naughty Tipsy Persons obviously.
