Firewire drives for Pro Tools......
I had some ez quest drives. One died pretty quick and their tech
support responce time was really bad. We're replacing the EZQ's with lacie's most for just for storage of loops and etc. I'm going to "roll my own" firewire system this summer. I have a ton of IDE drives and just buying a Granite Digital 2 bay rackmount system. (BTW it's rackmounted so it's gotta be good right?) it's has smart chip technology with a LCD read out tell you the performance and also if the drive is going to possibly fail. It doesn't look all that sexy but very useful. Fast too. I'd reccommend Seagate drives. My oldest drives I own are seagates. I have an 8 year old SCSI 9 gig drive. It still rocks. I've had a lot of IBM drives fail (a lot = hella). I have had a few Maxtors fail, and quite a few IBM's and Western Digitals fail. But they're cheap. I recommend "rolling your own" you know what you get. Usually a better warranty too. YMMV. garrett "Jake Mossman" wrote in message ... I know what specs I need, but I'd like to know what brand of drive everyone is using. I'm thinking of trying the EZQuest drives soon. I am doing 48 track live recordings, 2-3 hours in length, spread across two drives. Thanks, JAKE |
