Default Phoenix Gold MS275 vs ZX450

Hi!

I`m planning to use a ZX450 v2 to power 4 Celestion AD12 subs in my car.
I have a question: will 2 ohm mono bridging 2 channels on the ZX450 produce
as much power as the MS275 will do in 2 ohm mono?

I use to have 2 ms275 driving 2 celestion AD12 each in 2 ohm mono and that
worked very well giving a total of approx. 360W from each MS275 and 180W pr.
sub.

Will 2 ohm mono from 2 channels on the ZX450 produce about the same (360W) ?

(Sorry for my bad english, i`m Norwegian :-))

Thanx
Bjornar

Neither amp is ment to be run at 2 ohms mono. But if you did run a
ZX450 at that load, it would be producing ~500 watts @ 2 ohms mono.

Thanx for the answer.

I got 2 zx450 v2. I will use 4 channels to the subs, 2 channels for a
set of 8" and the last 2 channels for a set of PG Xenon mids/tweeters.

Maybee its a better idea to drive the subs in 2 ohm stereo, it will
lower both the temperature of the amp and the current draw from my cars
electric system, i suppose it will be high enough anyway :-)

The manual on my MS275 says that it will go into overload when the
powersupply reaches 350W Rms so i guess that is approx what it will
produce in 2 ohm mono?

Do you have any idea what a MS275 i capable of in dynamic power?

Thanx

I'd say somewhere in the 400 watt range dynamic unclipped. Those amps
are a bit underrated, so your mileage may vary. I don't know if you've
seen this site or not, but this is a good place to get info on your PG
amps.
