Short Circuit Hell!
Alright so here it goes, i just recently purchased a 95 cavalier in
good condition, however its got an electrical short, at random instances when i press/release the gas and/or brake pedal my electronics will fade out and turn back on. Now heres the problem. Listenin to a song everythings peachy and then u go to stop at a light, the radio turns off and repeats the song or stays off. Now ive been trying to come up with a solution to avoid this short by reconnecting the radio somehow. Now i was thinking (althought dangerous, however i need this radio to work otherwise ill drive the car into a tree) about running a hardwire from the battery to the +12 wire running to the radio, and running a manual ground from the radio instead of using the normal wire harness's. Would this effectively bypass the short located god only knows where. Also if anyone else has a good effective relatively cheap idea to also get this taken car of, id be very thankful. before i ran a hard wire from the battery to the radio itself but i still encounter the same problem, and it actually seems to be worse. i assume a short can also be caused by a ground wire touching somethin its not supposed to, would also running a hard wire from the negative terminal/car body remedy this problem i got everything running through the appropriate harness except for the +12V. My 12v memory and negative terminal still get routed through the harness. sometimes it memorizes the spot, sometimes it wont. but im stuck and i just about hit the car with a golf club, so any additional help would be grand. |

i dont know, its something funky, it doesnt only effect the radio, ive
got all sorts of weird lights comin on, when i press the gas the engine service light comes on very dimly, ive noticed these quirks work in conjunction with the stereo being all gimp. However i know i cant fix the entire problem now, im just looking for a quick fix so my radio doesnt go ape **** everytime i hit the gas/brake |

Short Circuit Hell!
problem solved, the negative terminal that was grounding out the chassi
was way too thin of gauge wire. i cut up an old set of jumper cables and made a new ground point. everything works flawlessly now even the dashboard insturment panel. w00t |
