Default Second hard drive for Roland VS-1824

We're looking to add a second drive to our Roland VS-1824, both for
purposes of convenient backup and to increase the space we have
readily available for recording. I was considering adding an external
SCSI drive, but I wonder if it's also possible to swap out the
Roland's internal drive for something larger. So I have a couple of
questions:

* Is the internal HD of the Roland swappable?

* As I understand it, you need a special 25-pin SCSI connector cable
for external connection to the Roland. Where do you get one of those?

* Would it matter whether I get a 50-pin, 68-pin, or 80-bin SCSI drive
if I go the external route?

Many thanks in advance!

Almost definately ;-))
I changed the internal IDE drive in a 1680 a few years ago. I had to update
the OS to the latest version first, install the drive, then divide it into
2Gb partitions upto a max total of 16Gb. Size limits may have changed for
the better since then (?) I got all the info I needed from
