You should be able to find some freeware that will do this. Consider that
converting from lossy formats is not nearly as good as going back to a
lossless source.

First, AFAIK there is plenty software that will let
you save or convert MP3 to wave or whatever.
I used to use the BeOS OS and if my memory serves
me well I always could do that.
( for obvious reasons I never did )
Sure under Linux simular tools must exist so I
expect there will be something for windows too.

Second: what do you mean by "not nearly as good"
it is simply pointless!

It's not pointless if the only source you have is an mp3 and you absolutely
must have it in a wav file and quality is not an issue. Not saying that is
the situation , but it could be.

Winamp will decode MP3 files, and the other files it can handle, to a .wav
file.

Don't use MP3 to archive sound files.

That seems to be an answer to something implied in your post.

If you'd kept the sound files as uncompressed, you'd not be needing
to decompress it now, and since the MP3 is missing some data,
decompressing the MP3 will result in a file that isn't as good
as the original sound file before it was turned into an MP3.

It's still bouncing down the rubber hose that's used for
the delay.

I remmeber one project in Elementary Electronics really did
use a garden hose for delay, a speaker of some sort at one
end and a microphone at the other. At least it didn't have
the mechanical issues of a spring reverb unit.

There was also a commercial product, sometime even before the
Cooper Time Cube; name escapes me... used for GodOnly
knows what... that worked that way.

Much thanks,
