Question about power cord for McIntosh MC2300
Hello all! I recently acquired a MC2300 from a professional DJ, and I
just love the sound (duh?). However, I have run into a problem. The guy I bought the amp from was using a "clothes dryer" type power cord, and I wanted to upgrade to something nicer. I bought a fancy (PS Audio) power cord for the monster, but the female end does not plug into the Mac. Evidently, the 2300 was made before amps were built with the IEC-type plug on them, and they have a NEMA 5-15P instead. Has anyone run into this problem, and how did they solve it? I was considering getting an adapter, with an IEC prong and a NEMA 5-15 receptacle, but this would seem to introduce a "weak link" into the power line. Is anyone aware of a high-quality power cord with NEMA couplings on both ends? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks, Adam. |
