Looking for experience/documentation RS-232 port on Harmon-Kardon A/V receivers
Hi there -
I've noticed that some Harmon-Kardon receivers (AVR-430, etc) sport an RS-232 port. According to the brochure, "This jack may be used to control the AVR-430 over a bidirection RS-232 serial control link". Does anyone in these groups have any experience with this, or have a pointer to the documentation for the command set, etc? Thanks much in advance! Steve in Seattle |

My experience has been that most monufacturers advertise the RS-232 ports as
a "feature" to help sales, then klutch the protocol to their bosom and refuse to let anyone (other than high-end home automation vendors with lots of cash for license fees and lawyers for non-disclosure agreements) know what it is. I have a B&K receiver mainly because B&K was willing (if only through a very informal channel) to release their protocol info. -- == The *Best* political site URL:http://www.vote-smart.org/ ==+ email: icbm: Delray Beach, FL | URL:http://home.att.net/~Tom.Horsley Free Software and Politics ==+ |
