Any alternative for Windows XP user who cant use ProTools
I'm wondering if there is a good alternative out there for Windows XP users
for Digidesign's Pro Tools, since Pro Tools doesnt work on XP. |

Look into Steinberg's Nuendo. I use it at the studio and it's a stable,
flexible alternative to ProTools. The studio is setup with 24 channels of A/D and a Steinberg Midex timepiece. It all flows well and reliably. Plus, the whole universe of VST and DX effects are avaailable to you. -- J Engineer/Producer (Delete "no.spam" from my e-mail address to reply direct) "Bubba" wrote in message news:5y7eb.4471$hp5.1812@fed1read04... Pro Tools only runs on Windows XP now! They have withdrawn support, and
software for all other versions of windows. "Bubba" wrote in message news:5y7eb.4471$hp5.1812@fed1read04... I'm wondering if there is a good alternative out there for Windows XP users for Digidesign's Pro Tools, since Pro Tools doesnt work on XP. |

I just installed a Digi001 XP system for a client and he now swears by
the PC. He says it works better than any TDM Mac based system he has used (at major studios in the Los Angeles area). Don't forget that Digi's parent company dropped Mac support and switched to PC's a few years ago. There must be a really good reason that AVID switched to PC's and I am sure it's not because Mac's are better than PC's. I think with the right hardware both platforms can be stable and you can get tons of work done. I've only had a Mac for a couple of years, so I may be in for a letdown, but I don't think so. I can't support your claim.
I was a Mac/ProTools user for 10 years. I switched to the PC/WinXP platform 2-3 years ago (initially it was WinMe before XP came out). WinXP works like a dream. I had not a single major problem since. The Mac isn't always plain sailing as most people like to paint a picture here. I had to know every trick in the book to maintain a working system with ProTools/Mac. I decided to go for Nuendo2 which is far superior to ProTools in my opinion. Far less downtime, too. when they upgrade the software from V1 to V2 all your existing plugins always work. I can't say that of ProTools. Man, did I hate the wait for every single plugin to be upgraded when ProTools got changed. It happened once too many times for me. I quit. Would I go back to the Mac. No. I don't like Microsoft either, but hey, at the moment it works. Steve "Edvard Puskaric" wrote in message ...
