Default RIP Larry Knechtel

One of the L.A. studios "Wrecking Crew". One of the great session
players, heard by most of us many, many times.

And a good guy...

Yep, the famous piano part. Member of Bread (mostly bass but some
keyboard). All of the Johnny Rivers tunes (Poor Side of Town, etc.).
That famous little organ riff at the start of "Last Train to
Clarksville". So many classics. First call keyboards and second call
bass in the studios for many years.

I discovered he produced "Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns. This has opened the
door to a flood of seventies guilty pleasures! The arrangement was
always too good to dismiss completely.

The next guilty pleasures: those female backup singers and the clavinet
solo in Rock Me Gently.

Andy Kim? lol Guilty indeed! Better than even chance that the singers
were Toni Wine overdubbed. No idea of the clavinet, but it could well
have been Larry.

Interesting. I googled around, but most results were based on a
Billboard book. It says Andy Kim recorded the song then was signed to
Capitol. It's not clear that the hit was re-recorded, but Michael
Omartian is credited as arranger.
