Default voice recording with bookmarks

hi,
i would like to know if there is a piece of software that can handle
following:
i want to record my voice and make bookmarks DURING the recording to be
able to cut it into segments without listening to it again and finding
the places.
To be specific: this is for for language learning. I have vocabulary
items (or shorter sentences) written in two languages (in a phrase book
for example). I want to read the prase in the first language, then to
read its translation into the other language and then proceed to the
next item. I wish that each pair be a separate recording (one file per
each pair in order to subsequently play the prases in a randomized
order). I find it rather clumsy to start manually a new recording after
each pair. It would be great if pressing one single button would -
EITHER make a bookmark and there would be no problem to cut the whole
recording in pieces
OR automatically start a new recording without deleting those that have
been made before-of course.
I hope I am clear enough
thanks for any help
Pavel

I think some of the digital voice pocket recorders have bookmarks.

I don't know about PC software to do this, but I believe that Sony's HiMD
recorders will do this. I believe the models that offer recording
capabilities have a "track mark" button on the front of the unit. After
recording on HiMD (some models have mic input, line input, and optical
digital inputs), you can upload to the PC via USB. They're also very
portable machines.

Here's an older model that you might still be able to find:

http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NHF800.html

Note the "T MARK/REC" button on the front.

Despite what older reviews of HiMD will say about "upload restrictions", the
latest version of Sony's Sonic Stage software has done away with these
restricions and will now allow you to upload anything you record on HiMD to
any PC via USB. Older versions had restrictions built into the Sonic Stage
software. Older NetMD's can't upload to PC via USB due to a hardware
restriction, so don't buy one of those.

If anything, this will prod PC users into telling you what PC recording
software will do what you want, since most people consider Minidisc to be a
dead format, despite it's obvious advantages. ;-)
