Acoustic foam
I am remodeling a camper and looked into getting some foam panel
treatments. Prices seem pretty low compared to many sources. Just wanted to know if anybody used theirs. I also might want to buy some foam padding for seats and beds. Seems to have some kind of fire rating. http://www.foamexpress1.com//Acoustic_Foam_Corners.php Greg |

Prices seem pretty low compared to many sources. That can be a sign that something is not right. I haven't tested that brand, but I did test another cheap brand (Foam by Mail) which was nowhere near as good as claimed. I'm not saying the same is true for Foam Express, but you'd be wise to ask them for a sample, and ask a knowledgeable friend to assess its quality. Or send me a sample and I'll tell you if it's any good. My address is on my web site: www.ethanwiner.com. Seems to have some kind of fire rating. They claim Class B, which is not as good as Class A. But there are probably many other things more flammable in your camper to worry about. --Ethan |

I will then put up the interior siding. I would think most modern trailers have hard foam. Taking out the old musty fiberglass was a chore. I'm still itching. I ordered some 1 inch 12X12 foam squares from the company, $.75 and $.89 each. About 40 for just over $30 plus shipping. Grey, red, yellow, and neutral. greg |

It's worse than a plaster or drywall room because the metal shell is relatively thin and can flex somewhat. I have worked in a lot of remote trucks where everything was okay except for the low end, and the low end was just weird. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

The foam you want from that comes from upholstery stores and comes in measurements of density. I'm guessing that you'd want the same sort of thing for a camper as you would for a boat. Most boat cushions are 4 inches think and from a 70 to 80 density. I don't know what the number means but that is what I always seem to get for my boats - and I have kids so we fix that kind of thing all the time. Also, if you want sound containment, you'll probably want to look at the $10 a 4'x8' sound board that home depot sells. |

Take packing tape and stick it to your skin (off and on and off and on again) until all those fiberglass splinters are stuck to the tape instead of your skin. Don't wash it off and what ever you do don't rub it off . Tape works great. |

I have seen sound drywall on TV but it cost a lot more. Maybe $30 a sheet or more. The foam company makes seat cushions also and just about anything foam. I really don't like foam for cushions, its not firm enough. Prefer cotton stuffing. On the boat, seems like we can't get enough cushion up on Lake Erie. I need at least one or two additional cushions on the existing seat. greg |
