Advice on fitting a CD player

Can anyone help me with this. I have been offered a six disc CD
player for my Audi. The wiring and bracket is there to fit in the
boot. Plugging it in and the CD powers up OK. However when I press
the MODE button on the car unit (Audi RDC-010)is doesn't pick up the
CD player. Any of you guys got any advice.
