alpine cda-9835 now or wait for 2005 models?
Ok planned on the cda-9835 but reading and seeing reviews & trying on mp3
read time as well as limited options with text with XM and the kda-420i with ipod not showing all text or ability to tailor the look. Should I wait on the new cda-9855 or cda-9853? What will they offer advancement wise in these areas? Anyone know? I can't find anything other than the touch strip yadda yadda and RGB color biolite screen. I want it for: (1) v-drive amp power to run (4) 6 1/2" (alpines in stock door panels) as I am not planning on an external amp or sub for that matter with my limited space in my 2005 dakota quad work truck. with the bass engine I can find the sweet spots on my alpine speakers with some work. I'm not a base head BTW (2) without a doubt ipod powered via the kca-420i unit... I live off my ipod I'd hold out longer if they are making big improvements in these areas on the new 2005 decks for text but I just CAN'T FIND any new info. I'm more than happy to live with the 9835 now if nothing new is on the horizon but a touch strip and RGB color monitor...whooooweeeeeee not a big deal to me I'm more interested in ipod and sat. radio information text and sound control Thanks for any help....much thanks on any info or thoughts on my problem |

You should check out ipodlounge.com. There are multiple threads talking
about the new alpine headunits for 2005. As I recall, some people who had played with them at CES though the improvements were not all that substantial. -PT |

The current Alpine models are so complex and powerful, it is going to take several weeks
for you just to figure out this year's models. No kidding. So, from personal experience, I suggest just getting a good price on the one you fancy right now. Any improvements are likely to be miniscule. -- Todd |

Jason I would wait for the next Alpine 9855 to come out. From what I have read it should have more features even better sound and greater ease of use than the 9835 and 9833. I was going to buy the 9835 today but decided against it after reading the tec page at http://www.alpine-usa.com/ to get to the review of Alpine’s new head units just click on support bottom on the alpine of USA home page then you should see press releases then look for ALPINE UNVEILS INDUSTRY-FIRST GLIDETOUCH TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA CONNECTIVITY WITH 2005 SWINGFACE CD HEAD UNITS But you will have wait till march to get your hands on one in the states. Should be worth the wait for better I-Pod support and the fact that you can control up to 8 external amps from the head unit. -- ctsommers ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ctsommers's Profile: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/me...p?userid=33044 View this thread: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/sh...d.php?t=209871 CarAudioForum.com - Usenet Gateway w/over one million posts online! |
