Dear MI5
On Aug 19, 20:38 pm, Shhhh! I'm Listening to Reason!
wrote: Dear MI5: You have posted many, many paranoid rants recently, all of which are off-topic on RAO. I want to personally thank you on behalf of 2pid for posting them. Why, without efforts such as yours and 2pid's, this newsgroup would be dead. Instead, it is a lively group filled with OT rants of all sorts, mostly from the extreme right wing fringe. It would seem that the flood of MI5 postings is related to Bob Morein's breakdown and incarceration. Bob stopped returning Bwian's calls, and has now his jailing has stopped him from posting or even answering his phone, which is now disconnected. Is this the end of Bob Morein, Bwian, and all his other alter-egos???? |

Dear MI5
I'm not sure how this group is moderated, if at all, but perhaps if
enough people use the "more options" link next to the author's post to report this abuse we can get these people banned. I hate to see this group turn into a haven for spammers. Mark |

I'm not sure how this group is moderated OMG, surely there is a FAQ somewhere on google explaining that goggle groups are NOT googles groups, it is just a remarkably inadequate web interface to usenet newsgroups. IMO it is an "evil empire" type strategy that Google pretends to have invented the usenet. I hate to see this group turn into a haven for spammers. Youi don't say which group you post from, this thread is cross-posted to multiple newsgrups. It is much worse that posts that are only off topic, and not commercial spam per se, disappear from unmoderated usenet newsgroups because that happens via anonymous vigilante modeation, ie. by systems refusing to relay messages from some individuals with no regulation thereof and no appeal being possible. If you want a moderated forum, then go to one. The only moderation on the usenet is that which is achieved via local culture. The result is occasional off topic posts, either use newsreader that can disregard entire threads or learn to skip them and be happy. One very good, and free, usenet newsreader is the one that comes with the last full version of netscape, there are many alternatives - be it freeware, shareware or shopware.
